Welcome to the Pelath Portfolio
This site has been established to publicize the various High School and Undergraduate media and written work of Scott Pelath. It is a large, though not exhaustive, list of research and creative endeavors in which I have engaged over the past ten years. They positively contributed to my development and I am proud to provide them as a demonstration both of my own capabilities and of the capabilities of PowerPoint in particular. Innovation has been my overwhelming objective through my use of PowerPoint, and some terrific examples are now available publicly for the first time ever on this website. Enjoy.
Below is a copy of my resume, which will be updated as it expands.

Current/Active Projects:
"Yojimbo Trilogy" Article
Examining the films of Akira Kurosawa closely has brought me to the conclusion that the "Yojimbo" Duology was actually a trilogy. My thesis states that including "Red Beard" as a part of the "Yojimbo" storyline completes a cycle of character development and the director's auteurism and message. The similarities between the first two films are quite noticeable, but the same similarities are present in the third film. However, the differences between the films and the gradual progression of the Sanjuro's conscience, with a pivotal influence driving the change, give credence to the belief that the "Aka Hige" should be included. With a trilogy, the audience gets to see the original character, the reason for the change and his transition, as well as the product of the transition.
Progress: Research Stage
"The Flaws of the American Public Education System: College and Preparedness for It"
Spurred by a 2010 news article about a college's plan to electronically monitor class attendance and artificially lower grades as a result of consistent absences, Sean Hannifin and I began a long, nearly exhaustive conversation about the flaws in the American college education system as a whole. Reaching deep into educational philosophy, we argued both the benefits and pitfalls of established college protocols such as grading, testing, general education requirements, and AP testing, with such success that we have decided to seek publication as a semi-Platonic dialog-style philosophical treatise.
Progress: Discussion, Research, and Revision
Untitled Mystery-Suspense Novel
I am currently co-authoring a novel with Sean Hannifin. The story follows Jessica, the daughter of a prominent acting family and heir to their legacy. Her parents are murdered, driving her psyche to dissociate into characters from movies. This condition becomes a tool for the crime syndicate which killed her parents to commit crimes, leading the head detective investigating the double homicide to suspect Jessica for the murder of her own parents.

O'Really Factor Revived
This project is basically a serialization of the heretofore three-episode "O'Really Factor" PowerPoint Project (see The High School PowerPoint Section to view the originals). These are designed to be shorter than the original 10-15 minute presentations, and take the form of political satire based on current news stories. Most if not all will have a conservative point of view, though a point-counterpoint may be in the works for the future.
Progress: Two PowerPoint-based videos have been produced. They are available on Youtube through the Username "TheFactorOReally."
"The New Genesis"
I have high hopes for this independent PowerPoint project, which will address numerous political issues, but will focus on Global Warming. It takes the form of an animated comic book, which is a revision of the first book of the Bible from the point-of-view of an extreme leftist. There is also a production blog, in addition to the page above, in which I will elaborate on the process and give somewhat regular updates regarding the progress of each chapter.
